The Makita MakTrak collection will be available starting in November 2024.
Makita’s 80V tools utilize two 40V batteries, leading to higher performance and more power than their single-battery counterparts. A case in point is the GCV07 vacuum, which delivers up to 173 CFM of suction power and 72.3 inches of water lift. Makita tells us it has a runtime of up to 54 minutes using the two kitted 4.0Ah batteries. To maximize your runtime even more, it also takes advantage of the AWS Auto-Start Wireless System when connected to a compatible tool, which powers the vacuum on/off with your tool.

Makita announced several new OPE items at the 2024 Power On event, including the 40V max GEU01 edger. This tool is Makita’s first dedicated battery-powered edger, producing the same power as a 31cc gas unit. Its 8-inch blade spins at up to 4300 RPM to power through dirt and debris, leaving you with a sharp edge. Also announced at Power On 2024, the new GNU01 hedge trimmer is another first for the brand. It’s Makita’s first dedicated articulating hedge trimmer—that is, it’s not part of the Couple Shaft attachment system. It features a double-sided 24-inch blade, and its brushless motor delivers top speeds of 4000 SPM. Its 1 1/2-inch tooth spacing also lets you trim branches up to 1 inch in diameter.

Makita recently added two new power cutters to the roster. The smaller of the two, the GEC03, is the brand’s first 40V power cutter. It features a brushless motor that delivers speeds of up to 6600 RPM. With a max cutting capacity of 3 1/2 inches, you can cut through masonry and metal materials for a variety of applications. To keep dust at a minimum when cutting concrete, it also has a water flow adjustment knob that continuously feeds water to the blade. Plus, the GEC03 features an electric brake that stops the cutting wheel in under 2 seconds, allowing for quick repositioning.

The Makita 40V Right-Angle Drill features a brushless motor that delivers top speeds of 1400 RPM. This drill actually comes in two separate models—the GAD01, which has a 1/2-inch chuck, and the GAD02, which has a 7/16-inch chuck. Both models can achieve cuts up to 6 1/4 inches using a hole saw and 4 5/8 inches with a self-feed bit. If you’re planning on drilling into concrete, wood, drywall, or block surfaces, it’s important to know what’s underneath beforehand to avoid injury or damage. That’s where the Makita 18V Multi-Surface Scanner comes into play. It lets you scan at a depth of up to 7 inches below your working surface to detect materials like metal, wood, plastic, and more. This scanner features a 4-inch digital interface that displays the center, edge, and relative dimensions of embedded objects. Makita tells us it has a 3/16-inch range of accuracy, helping you and your crew drill confidently and avoid objects under the surface.

The XDS01 is the latest cut-out tool in Makita’s 18V lineup. Unlike the standard drywall cut-out tool design, it uses a more traditional saw blade that cuts into your material instead of carving it out. Makita tells us it’s ideal for drywall and plywood applications, with a maximum blade depth of 1 3/16-inch in drywall and 9/16-inch in wood. A 1/4-inch stroke length also helps prevent damage to objects behind the surface of walls, like wires and pipes.
