Echo eForce Battery

May 19, 2023

The Echo eForce lineup is full of heavy hitters designed with both prosumers and commercial landscaping professionals in mind. Many of the concerns when buying an electric trimmer are typically centered around runtime and performance. We believe the Echo eForce Battery-Powered String Trimmer has an answer for both.

We measured the no-load speed using our tachometer here in our shop and recorded 5,700 RPM on high, 5,000 on medium, and 4,300 on low. This is right in line with what we expect from a 25cc gas-powered equivalent string trimmer. When paired with a quality line, like Echo's Black Diamond trimmer line, this string trimmer is able to power through thick grass and stubborn overgrowth.

Along with its impressive cutting capabilities, the kitted 5.0Ah battery provides a decent amount of trigger time. The DSRM-2600 ran for exactly 25 minutes on high during our testing. Echo also tells us you can expect up to 54 minutes of total runtime on low which is great for lighter trimming during your regular maintenance cuts.

One of the first things I noticed while using this string trimmer is the low vibration levels and how easy it was to control. Echo went with a rear-mounted motor which shifts the majority of the weight away from the head. This design lightens up the business end so the trimmer head is easier to maneuver and opens this trimmer up for attachment-capable possibilities without a complete redesign.

Line changes are a cinch with Echo's Speed-Feed 400 cutting head. Unlike traditional trimmer heads, there's no tedious disassembly required to refill the spool. Just feed the line through the trimmer head and then twist the two-piece head clockwise to load the line in a matter of seconds.

This Echo string trimmer is available in a few different configurations to suit a variety of needs. There is the standard model (DSRM-2600C2), an attachment-capable platform (DPAS-2600BC1), as well as a bicycle handle model (DSRM-2600UC2). The kit options retail for $399.99, $419.99, and $449.99, respectively, from The Home Depot. They all carry a 5-year consumer warranty and a 2-year commercial warranty.

While this isn't the most powerful battery-power string trimmer we’ve ever tested, there is no denying that this thing means business. The large cutting swath, excellent runtime, and gas-like performance make this a great option for your demanding trimming tasks. If you’re thinking about finally ditching the gas can this season, be sure to check out the Echo eForce Battery-Powered String Trimmer.
